New Canoeing Recruits Started

Canoeing Training Up and Running

After weeks of swimming, our new recruits are now able to stay in their boats most of the time. The Indooroopilly Canoe Club has another eight junior canoeists join their ranks. All boys were selected from Nudgee Junior College to take part in the program, now in its second year running. The boys have been regularly going out to Forest Lake to master the boats.

It has been a steep learning curve for the boys, but extremely rewarding as they can see the benefits of their hard work now starting to pay off. In three week time, they will be lining up for their first regatta – the Queensland Schools’ Championships at Springfield Lakes.

Matthew from last year’s groups was able to spend a few hours with Martin Marinov at the AIS Facility on the Gold Coast. Here Matthew completed some land training where Martin was able to look closely at his technique and make some small adjustments. It was a very worth while session.
